Ammonia

Chemical Compound (NH3), Colorless Gas (see States Of Matter) with a characteristic pungent, penetrating odor. It is extremely soluble in Water. Ammonia solutions are used to clean, bleach, and deodorize; to etch Aluminum; to saponify oils and fats; and in chemical manufacture. Ammonia and ammonia vapors are irritating - prolonged exposure and inhalation cause serious injury and may be fatal. Water-free ammonia is used in Refrigeration. The major use of ammonia and its compounds is as fertilizers. Ammonia is usually produced by direct combination of Nitrogen with Hydrogen at high Temperature and pressure in the presence of a catalyst.
