to 1836. He extended the work of Oersted, Hans Christian on the relationship of Electricity and Magnetism, formulated Ampère's law describing the contribution of a Current element to magnetic Induction induction, and invented the astatic needle. The basic unit of electric
current, the Ampere, is named for him.
