A fiber optics Communications system has the following advantages over a standard microwave system.
1. Unlimited capacities for now and the future.
2. Extremely fast with very high data rates.
3. Fiber optics has possible revenue making capabilities. The system may be
able to pay for itself in the future.
4. Don’t have to worry about atmospheric Interference or fade out.
5. Get away from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) licensing hassle and the expense associated with renewing licenses and buying
new ones.
6. Don’t have to worry about the FCC demanding Sho-Me to get off the 6 GHz Frequency band.
The disadvantages of fiber include:
1. Very, very costly.
2. Restricted to putting the fiber on Right-of-Ways.
