National Electric Code (NEC)

This and National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) are consensus standards that have been formulated with input from the entire electrical industry. The NEC is designed for the practical safeguarding of persons and property from hazards arising from the use of Electricity. The scope of the NEC is limited to installations; 1) of electrical Conductors and equipment in or on public or private buildings, 2) of conductors and equipment that connect to the supply of electricity, 3) of other outside electrical conductors and equipment, 4) of Fiber Optics cable. The NEC primarily is used for electrical requirements on the load side of the service point. The service point being the point of connection to the electrical utility supply.
