This and the National Electric Code (NEC) are consensus standards that have been formulated with input from the entire
electrical industry. The NESC is designed to safeguard persons during the
installation, operation, or maintenance of electric supply and Communications lines and all associated equipment. The scope of the NESC is limited to; 1)
supply and communication lines, equipment, and work practices for a private or
public electrical supply, communications, railway or similar utility, 2)
similar systems under the control of qualified persons, such as in an industrial
complex or utility interactive system.
