In mathematics, the ratio of the Circumference of a circle to its diameter. The ratio is the same for all circles and is
approximately 3.1416. The number pi is irrational and transcendental. An early
value was the Greek approximation 3 1/7; by the mid-twentieth century a computer
had calculated pi to 100,000 decimal places.
