Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP)

A Communications Protocol Personal Computer (PC) s use to communicate with each other through Modems. It is te most popular protocol for establishing dial-up connections to the Internet (see Internet Protocol (IP) ) PPP is similar to but more robust than Serial Line Internet Protocol (SLIP) , which lacks support for data compression, error detection, and multiple protocols on a single line. PPP resolves all these deficiencies and more.
